Lonza Specialty Anhydrides

Epoxy Curing Agents
Anhydride curing agents for epoxy resins offer a wide range of versatility, coupled with effective cost savings. These non-toxic, non carionogenic epoxy hardeners vary from low viscosity water white liquids to high melting aromatic solids.

Unsaturated Liquid Anhydrides
The workhorses of the epoxy filament winding, pultrusion and casting and potting applications are the unsaturated liquid anhydrides. Offering superior performance, low cost and low viscosity, unsaturated liquid anhydrides

have excellent electrical properties as demonstrated in their use in potting and encapsulation of ignition coils, flyback transformers, printed circuit boards, etc. These are equally efficient when used to fabricate composites.

Saturated Liquid Anhydrides
When moisture resistance, UV stability and crisp, clean, color and color retention are needed, saturated liquid anhydrides are the answer. These anhydrides are used in L.E.D. displays, as well as in the production of bushings and insulators for outdoor electrical transmission equipment.

Polyanhydrides
Our polyanhydrides offer excellent thermal shock resistance even following high temperature heat aging. They provide noise dampening benefits with a rubber-like durability. Polyanhydrides are typically used for manufacturing flexible PC boards and films, potting and encapsulation of high performance electrical coils. Where flexible circuitry is required or desired, polyanhydrides are the most efficient—without exception!

Anhydride Advantages
Broadview / Lonza anhydrides offer numerous advantages over other epoxy curing agents. In addition to being cost effective, anhydrides offer strength, thermal stability and non-critical mix ratios. They have low shrinkage upon cure and maintain excellent electrical properties with low viscosity.

Versatility is another benefit of our anhydrides. Castings or reinforced structures can be manufactured with superior physical properties coupled with Tg’s up to 275° C. In addition, they can be used to manufacture flexible films that can withstand continuous exposure to 230° C.

The long pot life of anhydride cured epoxies facilitate ease of working, making them ideal for filament winding uses. Conversely, such systems can be accelerated to cure within minutes at 150° C for pultrusion and resin transfer molding applications.

Ideally suited for the electrical and composites industries where superior electrical and/or physical properties are mandatory, epoxy resins cured with anhydrides require heat application of 80° C to 150° C or higher to affect a full cure.

From over a dozen different anhydrides available for the curing of epoxy resins, we offer the greatest variety of anhydrides to solve your problems. As a participant in the Responsible Care® program, the handling, safety and environmental impact of our products is always a concern. Environmentally safe anhydrides are NON-TOXIC, non carcinogenic, non-hazardous, requiring only the most basic of safety precautions to assure protection for personnel.   Data Sheets & MSD's>
