INTUMAX® is a new revolutionary flame retardant / intumescent agent. INTUMAX® is ideal for incorporation into thermoset coatings and foams, potting compounds, fiberglass reinforced structures, as well as electronic laminates and many other applications. INTUMAX® has been proven successful in epoxy, acrylic, vinyl acetate, urethane and PVC resin systems.

When blended into your resin system, INTUMAX® will react to heat and or flame to foam and form a thick, high yield char barrier. Coatings only 3mils (3/1000 of an inch.) thick will foam up to 1.5 inches and the char formed will have good structural integrity. Your protection will not fly off into the air. This char barrier will extinguish fire and prevent further flame spread. In fact, the protective char barrier can withstand direct flame from a propane torch for a minimum of 1 hour.

The char foam can also insulate and protect the coated substrate from heat damage. The dense carbon char can prevent much of the heat from passing through to the substrate it is protecting. This protection can help prevent deterioration of the substrate as well as protect anything behind it.

INTUMAX® can do all this at loading levels of only 10-20%. INTUMAX® is halogen free and does not evolve the highly toxic and corrosive gasses associated with many other fire retardants.
